The MKG Team

MKG Homes was born from the desire to provide affordable, high quality homes in the DFW market, and was started in 2018 by two partners. Though the journey has only just begun, it’s safe to say it is something that they’ve both dreamed about and prayed over for many years.

Kelly Pollard and Gene Skrabanek have been in the construction industry for over 30 years and have a vast array of experience and skillset between them.

Kelly can’t remember a time when he wasn’t building something. He was raised in the industry. His great grandfather owned a concrete company, his grandfather owned an appliance company, and his father, an air conditioning & heating company, so there was never a shortage of strong men in his family to teach him. Kelly fondly remembers the summers spent working with his dad, as a teenager, so that he could earn some money.

One might say that Kelly didn’t have a choice about shaping his career in the construction industry; it was in his blood. Kelly has been in the construction industry since 1989. His career started as a Warranty Technician for Choice Homes, a top 100 builder, and quickly moved up through the company until he reached the position of Community Manager, where he oversaw construction for homes in multiple neighborhoods. From there he became the Director of Purchasing for Wall Homes, a company that provided the DFW Metroplex with over 250 homes a year. His expertise and vast accomplishments were rewarded, and he was quickly promoted to Director of Operations for the DFW Market, where he oversaw the construction of over 300 homes a year. Kelly held that position until starting MKG Homes.

Gene Skrabanek is a graduate of Texas A&M University. He entered the home building arena in 1995 when he went to work for Centex homes as a Draftsman, where he created floor plans and working drawings from architect renderings. Gene quickly moved up the corporate ladder from Purchasing Agent to the Director of Purchasing in a mere seven years. As Director of Purchasing, he was responsible for sourcing the material and labor for over 3600+ homes a year. After Centex, he has run the purchasing division of Choice Homes, Ashton Woods Homes, and Impression Homes. Gene has an immense amount of knowledge with architectural design and plan management, as well as 20 years of experience in building strong relationships with vendors and subcontractors.

We believe in relationships. We see both employees and subcontractors as part of one big team. They are our partners - a close knit team with a single purpose, striving together.

A house is just sticks and bricks. Family is what makes a home.

…and THAT is why we build to

HOW YOU LIVE.
